“I asked Lynn to help me sort out feedback results and chart a career direction. I wanted advice from someone who knew me and the organization and could help me see the big picture. She is a great listener, and asked thoughtful, challenging questions that helped me see the options from various angles. I felt affirmed and challenged, and am confident that the new direction is the right one. I heartily recommend Lynn as a skilled personal and career coach!”

“It has been my pleasure to know Lynn over the past three years. In that time I’ve watched her grow as a person and as a coach. I took a Personal Foundation class from her recently and found the class to be very worthwhile. Lynn is particularly skilled at asking good thought-provoking questions while allowing her audience, or the person she is working with, the space they need to answer. Her gentle spirit and supportive nature are real gifts in working with people. I always feel affirmed around Lynn…she’s great to work with and to be around!”
Jim Struck, Owner, Leadership Vision, LLC

“I have known Lynn for several years both professionally and personally. She is an energetic, enthusiastic leader and a powerful motivator. She has an innate ability to recognize, encourage and develop potential in others.”
Melanie Bradley, AgChem Technologist, IP Portfolio Development, Dow AgroSciences

“I had the pleasure of working with Lynn in both her capacity as a patent agent and her capacity as leader of the intellectual capital group at Dow AgroSciences.

She approached both endeavors with a dedicated effort to listen to and understand the expectations of her clients and meet those expectations.

I was fortunate to benefit from Lynn’s expertise as a patent agent during her drafting of an application providing protection for the intellectual property resulting from the invention of a potent fungicide active against plant pathogenic fungi. Crafting an application covering the newly discovered fungicidal activity of this known material and the newly discovered active compounds related to it required careful interaction with both biologists and chemists to fully understand the scope of the invention. Her active listening skills, which include perceptive questioning, led to a useful property in the area of Green Agriculture.
Lynn is skilled at creating relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. She used that skill as a member of a team directed to optimizing the use of competitive intelligence in agricultural compound discovery. The team consisted of individuals with varied levels of understanding of intellectual property and with very different personality styles. Some of the team members believed that they understood intellectual property to a greater extent than was justified. Nonetheless, she was successful at integrating her skills into that team in a effective manner without friction. Consequently, she was able to provide much appreciated intellectual property guidance for the team as it prioritized lead optimization strategies.”
Richard Green, Senior Research Chemist, Dow AgroSciences

“Lynn is a strategic thinker as well as the consumate team player. She effectively leads by influence by taking into account the multiple needs of team members and where possible meeting those needs. She goes out of her way to make meetings fun, which is appreciated in what can be stressful environments.”
Chris Carson, Global Licensing Mgr, Dow AgroSciences

“During the spring of 2009, I had the pleasure to work under Lynn Zettler’s supervision in the Intellectual Capital Management department of Dow Agrosciences. I found Lynn to be highly organized and attentive to details in working toward business goals. In addition, she is a great communicator and therefore does an excellent job in sharing these goals to her team thereby aligning all team members toward the same vision and providing purpose to everyday work.

Lynn has an almost innate ability to identify the skills of her employees and knows how to further develop each skill by finding the right level of challenging tasks for each and everyone and follow up with feedback in continuous development talks.

It has been inspiring to be part of Lynn’s team and I hope to have the opportunity to learn from her again in the future.”
Sina Keshavarzi, Intellectual Capital Management (intern), Dow AgroSciences

“Lynn is a real asset for any group because she always keeps the end result in focus and understands how to deal with both the business and R&D functions. Lynn is an excellent team leader who makes sure that the right people are included and each party understands his or her role and its importance. Her ability as a communicator to bring parties together to work efficiently adds value to any situation.”
Charles Arnett, Global Patent and Copyright Counsel, Dow AgroSciences

“Lynn brings her successful experience as a practicing patent agent to the Intellectual Capital Management function at Dow AgroSciences. She has created much value for Dow AgroSciences through implementing IP strategy in creative ways. She is the rare individual who understands both the deep technical basis of invention and the utility of that invention for supporting the business strategy. Besides her technical and patent law expertise she is very personable. Everybody wants her on his own project!”
Bruce Story, Sr. Director, Intellectual Capital Management, The Dow Chemical Company

“Lynn is very customer focused, goal oriented, reliable and creative. Her colleagues actively seek her counsel on a wide range of topics. She is a team player, makes good contributions, does more than her fair share of the work. She is an outstanding talent for our company.”
John Fitt, North American Regulatory and Government Affairs Leader, Dow AgroSciences

“I had the pleasure to work under Lynn’s supervision during two internships (May-July -08, Jan-May -09) at DAS. In addition to providing me with these learning opportunities, Lynn coached my professional development through periodical development talks where she helped me shape and achieve project goals as well as personal objectives. Lynn’s leadership of DAS’ Intellectual Capital Management group has been highly inspiring as she effectively manages to make progress towards project objectives while still taking the time to ensure that cross-functional capabilities (business, R&D, legal) are all included and represented in the process. She has both visionary- and pragmatic skills that have, among other things, contributed to the development of formalized invention capturing processes that now enable DAS to extract more value from its intangible assets.”
Tobias Thornblad, Intellectual Capital Manager (Intern), Dow AgroSciences

“My first experience in working with Lynn and getting to know her leadership style was during our service on the board of our Florida condominium homeowners association. She served as President of that board for two years. I was most impressed with her courage, decisiveness, tact, and vision. Lynn possesses an honest desire for inclusiveness, believing that encouraging everyone to be involved results in the most effective end result. Leading a homeowners association can be a challenge, to say the least, due to strong personalities and conflicting interests of owners. Lynn was always willing to listen to all viewpoints; but in the end, she did not hesitate to make a decision that she believed was in the best interest of the organization. I also have great respect for her calm, thoughtful, and considerate reasoning skills.”
Michael Craft, Publisher, Gannett Co., Inc.

“In my previous role as a researcher in Crop Protection at Dow AgroSciences (DAS), I had the pleasure of knowing Lynn as a colleague and working with her over the course of several years. Lynn was greatly effective in the preparation and prosecution of many of my patent applications in a timely manner. Even though she was physically stationed in the patent department and away from the lab environment, you always felt that she was part of the research team. She was an excellent counselor on patent-related issues and went out of her way to offer help as needed. Working with Lynn was consistently an enjoyable experience, due to her steady temperament, patient persistence, and calm demeanor. She is an outstanding team player with superb communication skills and a positive can-do attitude. While at DAS, I also had the good fortune to contribute to Lynn’s Six Sigma project focused on intellectual property capture, and was able to observe Lynn exhibit excellent leadership and organizational skills as she navigated complex technical and people issues connected with that project across multiple departments and functions. Having worked with Lynn over many years, I developed a strong impression that Lynn’s presence on any team is a great positive and an asset. I would have no hesitation or reservations toward recommending Lynn to a leadership role in any organization.”
Bassam Nader, Research Scientist, Dow AgroSciences

“Over the past 6 years, I have worked with Lynn Zettler in her capacity as a patent agent at Dow AgroSciences. I am an organic chemist focused on the invention of new crop protection chemicals for DAS, and the discoveries made during the course of our projects have required protection via the patent application process. Since I knew little about the protection of intellectual property early on, I was fortunate to have been able to work with Lynn. She has been an ideal partner and mentor to me during this time. In order to distinguish our discoveries from the prior art, Lynn has gently guided me and my project team toward clearly defining our inventions and then preparing well-crafted claims and examples to protect those inventions, all in a timely manner. Lynn’s strengths are obvious: technical knowledge, a direct but gentle style of communication, a roll-up-the-shirt-sleeves approach to tackling problems, and a passion for relationship-building. These attributes give Lynn nearly instant credibility with anyone who works with her.”
Kirk Brewster, Senior Scientist, Dow AgroSciences

“I worked with Lynn in the Intellectual Law Group of Dow Chemical for several years. She started as a technical searcher and then worked her way up to patent agent. She has a unique balance of client communication skills and technical and legal acumen that made her a tremendous asset to the company. She could always see the broad picture of where the intellectual asset would fit the strategy of the company and had the specific skills to draft and prosecute patents that stand up to scrutiny by some of the best in the business. I would recommend Lynn highly for any patent agent position including management and coaching positions.”
Bruce Kanuch, IP Litigation Counsel, The Dow Chemical Company

“Lynn was a wonderful colleague at Dow. As a searcher, Lynn was customer oriented, getting the requested information to me in a timely and complete manner. Moreover, Lynn is one of the more gracious people I’ve ever worked with.”
Reid Willis, Student, Purdue University

“Lynn was the Patent Agent for several complex patent applications from my research area. Lynn has exceptional capability to organize research data in a clear and concise manner. The patent applications were granted based on her excellent communication skills with the USPTO. Lynn is a dedicated and highly skilled patent agent and her passion for intellectual property management is always evident.”
Steve Shaber, Sr. Research Scientist, Dow Agrosciences
